When it comes to home cleaning and maintenance, something we may often forget is the walls of our home. You may be surprised by how much we lean against or touch them on a daily basis. Over time, they can accumulate stains, marks, and dust that give the surface a dirty appearance which affects the whole space. So keeping your walls clean is important to keeping your home attractive and clean. Prevention and maintenance are always better than trying to repair the damage later, so to preserve that freshly painted look, plan to wipe down your walls regularly.
Different paint types and finishes require different cleaning solutions. When it comes to walls painted using latex paint, it is best to use warm water and nonabrasive all-purpose cleaner or white vinegar. Dip a clean sponge in the water, then squeeze it dry and use it to gently rub the wall. Wash walls painted with oil-based paint in the same manner, but replace the cleaner or white vinegar with a detergent and squeeze the sponge only until slightly damp this time.
