Do you know how many doors you have inside your home? It might be difficult for you to come up with a number off the top of your head, but it’s safe to say that most homes have quite a few interior doors. Whenever a door swings on its hinges, there are significant shear forces at play, and a door that is not properly installed can damage your floor and walls, or even hurt you physically.

A good door starts out with a good door frame. The door frame needs to be square and level. It also should be firmly attached to the studs surrounding it so that it won’t shift when the door swings in it.

The door should be attached with sufficient length screws into the door frame. If this isn’t the case, the door could come loose over time. If you decide to paint your door, you should make sure all 6 sides are painted since it could swell otherwise.
